Buy Dark Chocolate Online

You need to consider a few things when you buy dark chocolate online.  You need to consider shipping costs and customs issues.  You also need to consider the effects of shipping products through or to warm weather.  If you are careful, though, buying dark chocolate online can be safe and can save you money.  And maybe you can try products not available at your local grocery store.

Buying Details for Dark Chocolate Life

The prices, package quantities, ingredients, and shipping information shown with each product on this site should be treated as guides for comparison and evaluation.  I recheck these details and update them periodically, but it's possible that they could be off to some degree.

Price

The price for most of these products is shown in US dollars.  Still, the price shown is the price listed the last time I checked.  An item may have gone on sale, and the price today may be lower than I've listed.  Or perhaps it was on sale the day I last checked, and now it's gone back to normal price.

The price for some items is displayed in British pounds.  Sometimes you can see the same items listed in US dollars or in Euros on the various sales sites I refer you to, but those prices will be approximations.  If you buy dark chocolate from these sites and pay using any currency other than pounds at these sites, you will be charged at the current exchange rate.

Quantity

If a product quantity is listed on the sales site in ounces, or grams, or both, I display what was listed.  Some products list several quantities, such as shipping weight, packing weight, and product weight.  I attempt to display product weight where possible.

In a few cases, the listed quantity appears to me to be obviously inaccurate.  In these cases I display what I believe to be the most accurate quantity.

Ingredients

Throughout this site, I have categorized products based on an ingredient they may contain (such as almonds, for example), or for ingredients that they do not contain (such as dairy ingredients, for example).  To make these categorizations, I use the descriptions and ingredient lists given on the sales site.  In turn, these sites use ingredient lists from the manufacturer.

If an ingredient is listed, I assume that it is present.  Likewise, if an ingredient is not listed, I assume it is not present.

But many times ingredient information is missing, or incomplete.  Generally, I will not attempt to categorize the product.  This could mean, for example, that a truly dairy-free product will not be listed with other dairy-free products.

If you have particular ingredient requirements, you must take the responsibility to double check ingredients for each product yourself before you buy dark chocolate online.

Shipping Information

You'll notice that most of these products ship to North American addresses.  Sometimes this includes APO addresses, sometimes not.  A few ship to UK and other European addresses, and a very few to other international addresses.  I am listing the shipping details provided by the various sales sites.

Consider Two More Things About Shipping

First, when you buy dark chocolate online, you'll want to buy enough quantity from a particular sales site to make shipping charges worthwhile.  Sometimes you'll get free shipping when you go over a certain dollar amount.

Second, customs law is different in different countries.  You are responsible for obeying the customs laws in the country to which you are having product shipped.  Even if you find a sales site which will ship product to you, you may need to take additional steps to receive it.

Hot Weather

It is really no fun if you buy dark chocolate online and it arrives melted.  I have listed the hot weather shipping policy for each product as provided by the sales site.  If the product listing says nothing about hot weather, this means the sales site also said nothing specific.

If the weather is warm where you are, or anywhere along the shipping route, you should heed the hot weather shipping policy recommendations.

I Would Like to Hear From You

If you are able to arrange shipping to an address other than those I've listed, I would like to hear from you:  where you had items shipped, and how you arranged it with the sales site.  Of course, I also want to know if you are unable to ship to areas listed.  I'll give credit to the first person who provides new information.  Please contact me with this kind of information.

I would also like to hear from you if:

  • You can provide a site, with an affiliate program, that sells and ships dark chocolate products outside of North America.  If so, please contact me here.

  • You would like to advertise on this site.  Please contact me here.
