Dark Chocolate Apples

There are so many interesting ways to enjoy dark chocolate apples!  Three favorites are whole apples covered in dark chocolate, dark chocolate covered wedges, and dark chocolate bars with apple.

I remember talking my mom into adding a cup of chocolate chips to her apple pie.  What a great combination.  I was hooked!  I also remember caramel apples at Halloween, but I don't remember seeing chocolate covered apples as a kid.

Whole Apples

Dark chocolate covered whole apples are now fairly easy to find.  I have found a few places on-line that have a whole apple covered in only dark chocolate.  But whole apples covered first in caramel, and then in dark chocolate seem to be much more popular.  For example, on the web you can find whole apples covered with caramel, dark chocolate, and:

  • More dark chocolate chunks
  • Dark chocolate drops and shavings
  • Cashews, peanuts, pecans, walnuts, corn nuts, or pistachios
  • Wasabi and dried green peas (yes, believe it)
  • Reeses pieces and chips
  • Cherries and fudge
  • Or nothing else, just caramel and dark chocolate

Apple Wedges

I have only found a few places with dark chocolate covered slices of apple.  I have found apple wedges covered in dark chocolate only, plus dark chocolate covered wedges with:

  • Cinnamon
  • Lime juice

Dark Chocolate Bars

There are plenty of dark chocolate bars with various kinds of fruit in them.  I've found a few with apple, including:

  • Canadiana 70% with maple syrup, sundried apples, and alder smoked salt
  • Dolfin 60% with apple, hazelnuts, sugar cane, and cinnamon
  • Dolfin 60% with apple, peach, and apricot
