There are dark chocolate producers all over the world, large and small.  Here is some information on some popular manufacturers:  a short history, and some details on the kinds of dark chocolate products they produce.

Cafe-Tasse -- Cafe-Tasse dark chocolate is produced in Belgium as part of a high-end gourmet product line.  They produce many dark chocolate products that are available world-wide.

Dove dark chocolate

Dove -- What began as a custom formula ice cream coating in 1956 has only been getting better ever since.  Dove has a good assortment of dark chocolate products sold world-wide, and is known as "Galaxy" in the UK and elsewhere.

Ghirardelli -- Some of the smoothest dark chocolate you'll find.  As America's longest continuosly operating chocolate manufacturer, Ghirardelli has a fascinating history, and a great line of dark chocolates!

Godiva dark chocolate

Godiva -- Originally found only in very exclusive "boutiques", Godiva chocolates can now be found worldwide. Still highly exclusive, these chocolates can now also be found in department stores, and even online.

Hershey -- This iconic American company is now one of the world's largest and most well known.  Although most well known for their milk chocolates, Hershey has many really great dark chocolate products.  

Lindt chocolate

Lindt -- Lindt dark chocolate is some of the darkest, smoothest, and tastiest dark chocolate you will find.  Lindt and Sprüngli's long history is a key part of chocolate history.
