Nirvana Belgian Chocolates was created to bring the quality and personal selection of chocolates found only in Belgium to the United States. Nirvana has since introduced many more high-quality dark chocolate products, all available in premier gourmet food stores such as Dean & Deluca, Oakville Grocery, Sur La Table, Zabar's and many more, and, of course, on the internet!
In 1912, the Belgian chocolate-maker, Jean Neuhaus, invented the first hard chocolate shell, also called couverture, which allowed for smooth fillings and creams inside. Based on this invention, many villages throughout Europe have developed local shops where these hand-made sweets are produced. In Belgium, there is at least one "confiserie" (as these shops are called) in every village. Local patrons and visitors take their time hand-selecting the exact personalized assortment they are looking for.
Nirvana began with a desire to bring Belgian quality chocolates, and the personalized selection process, to the US. Nirvana imports its chocolates from a small workshop near Brugge, Belgium, where the confections are individually hand made. You can create your own, customized, 16 or 32 piece box, from Nirvana. If you like, you can fill your personalized selection entirely with dark chocolates.
Nirvana has since introduced many more dark chocolate products, including some great organic and vegan bars, and wonderful individual chocolates.
